Evil in the planet Tyrannus

The moment my grandmother gave me a book to read, I really didn’t want to read it. However, I decided to flip the pages: that’s when I saw my name in the book. I realized that it was dedicated to me. So, I decided to ready the book in order to make my grandmother really happy. In the beginning of the story, the narrative tells you about a group of people on a space ship, traveling around space when they suddenly are pulled in by a planet named Tyrannus led, by an evil president named Nimo. I thought my grandmother was writing about an evil man leading an empire similar to Adolf Hitler taking over every country in his path in World War II. As I started to read it, I felt hatred for the things Nimo was about to do. For instance, he would send his workers tied to bomb and drop them on a city on Planet Earth, and sending missiles with a fixed target if people refused to surrender. The president of Tyrannus didn’t really care about what people would say it h...

My Grandmother

I will tell you about my grandmother or whom I call Dadi, because she is an elder and you need to respect people who are older than you. She lives in Punna, India with her husband in an apartment. Her name is Margaret Bhatty. She was born in Nagarpat on Oct 5, 1930. She had many siblings, including one named Florrie or as I call her, Auntie Flo. When the sisters gather at home, they will be telling jokes. They are funny, because they tell the family about funny incidents in their lives. My grandmother is a journalist and writer in India. My grandmother writes everyday in her office. She writes stories for children, as well as for adults. One of her stories for adults is called The Evil Empire, about the president of evil empire planning to destroy Planet Earth and other galactic civilizations one by one, like candles. Niti and Yash have to think of something before this happens. Niti and Yash are junior space veterans of the tourist sort, having t...

My Home

“Be the change you want to see in the world.” -Mahatma Gandhi I call Rajasthan “The Pink City” because its city painted in pink and white. Every single day people visit monuments where kings, queens, princes and even princesses defended their country against invasion from enemies that wanted to change history or conquer in the name of. This pink city was founded by the Maharaja Jai Singh II, a Kachhwaha Rajput. The Maharaja felt that he needed to move to Jaipur with the increase of the population and the scarcity of water. His plan was to construct major palaces, roads and squares which took him four years to do it. The reason it’s called “The Pink City” because when the Prince of Whales came to visit Jaipur, the whole city was painted in Pink color to welcome him. Jaipur filled with rich in its culture and architectural beauty it’s something the tourists can’t ignore. The reason it’s my favorite place because the culture there in my home is something I can’t describe or maybe it’s som...

No pencil in your mouth

We lived in an apartment building with a view in Coconut Grove. Every December, my parents went to Christmas parties. Before one of these parties, my mom was looking for an outfit while I fooled around with a pencil in my mouth. My mom said, “Aditi, don’t put the pencil in your mouth, because you’re going to hurt yourself.” Of course, I didn’t listen to her, so I kept on doing it. While my mom was putting on her dress and her jewelry on she realized she wasn’t hearing any sound from my room. She poked her head inside and, saw I had fainted on the bed. She immediately called 911. Luckily, the fire department was just around the corner and it only took them five minutes to get to the apartment. My mom looked around the bed to see what might have caused me to faint and found the pencil which I had choked moments before. The fire men arrived and they had brought an emergency kit with them. They checked me out and said that I was fine. One of the fire m...

The Move to Panama

I was born in India, but I moved to Miami a year later. While living in Miami, I remember having fun with mother and especially with my sister going with our father to Disney World. We even participated in a Halloween contest where my sister and I dressed up as Dalmatians and mom as Cruela Devil. My farther was seldom there during our lives in Miami. He was always traveling. Mom did most of the work in the apartment and took us everywhere just to keep us happy. It was the day that seemed different than the others days, because it was where our mom had told us that we are moving to Panama. My father had gotten a new job there with the shipyard. It was the saddest day for me; because it was the day we found out we were moving to Panama. We went to the airport and boarded the plane. When we took off I realize that we were leaving Miami for good. During the flight mom kept us busy while she was talking to dad about Panama. The airhostess announced in Spanish that we will be landing soon to...
